TUNJUK AKHLAK MULIA, HENTI GANGGU AMBIGA

KUALA LUMPUR, 16 Mei: Gabungan Pilihan Raya Bersih dan Adil (Bersih 2.0) meminta semua pihak menunjukkan akhlak yang baik sebagai seorang manusia dan menghentikan gangguan terhadap pengerusinya, Datuk Ambiga Sreenevasan.

Pengerusi Bersama Bersih 2.0, Datuk A. Samad Said berkata, beliau sangat sedih dan marah terhadap gangguan yang sedang dilakukan terhadap Ambiga yang disifatkan sebagai hina dan memalukan.

“Bersih 2.0 dan Jawatankuasa Pemandu mengutuk segala bentuk karenah gangguan dan ancaman terhadap Datuk Ambiga yang juga seorang warga Malaysia.

“Beliau ialah sosok yang selama ini menghadiahkan kehidupannya untuk membuka luas ruang hak asasi manusia dan memperbaiki kesejahteraan umat.

“Ketika serangan dengan kelakuan hina dan kadangkala ganas ini dilakukan di hadapan rumahnya, Datuk Ambiga melayani keadaan tersebut dengan penuh sopan dan hormat,” kata beliau pada sidang media di Dewan Perhimpunan Cina Kuala Lumpur-Selangor, dekat sini, hari ini.

Sasterawan Negara itu juga mahu pihak berwajib menyatakan pendirian mengutuk  apa yang sedang dilakukan terhadap terhadap seorang pemimpin masyarakat madani.

“Jika kerajaan dan pihak berwajib senyap dan membisu, ini bermakna mereka menyokong kerja bangang dan perangai hina ini,” ujarnya.

Tegas beliau juga, bukan Ambiga seorang menuntut pilihan raya bersih dan adil sebaliknya ada 19 ahli jawatankuasa Bersih 2.0 bersama Ambiga dan beliau sendiri dan disokong 84 badan bukan kerajaan (NGO).

“Turut sama menyokong kami ialah 250,000 warga Malaysia semua bangsa yang turun ke jalan raya di Kuala Kumpur pada 28 April lalu.

“Pada hari yang sama ada puluhan ribu lagi anak Malaysia yang menetap di 85 buah kota di dunia ini. Semuanya bangun bersetiakawan menuntut pilihan raya adil danbersih,” katanya.

Semalam, Senaman anjuran Persatuan Veteran Tentera Melayu (PVTM) bertujuan membantah penganjuran perhimpunan Bersih 3.0.

Kumpulan 15 orang aktivis PVTM itu melakukan gimik demonstrasi dengan membongkok dan menggoyang-goyangkan punggung mereka ke arah rumah Ambiga.

Sebelum ini, sekumpulan peniaga bertindak membuka gerai burger di hadapan rumah Ambiga sebagai tanda protes kerana mendakwa mengalami kerugian apabila tidak dapat berniaga akibat perhimpunan Bersih 3.0.

‘Nik Aziz is father of kafir’

IN THE NAME OF RELIGION: Ex-IGP says Pas leader misleading Muslims
KUALA LUMPUR: FORMER inspector-general of police Tan Sri Rahim Noor has labelled Pas spiritual leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat the “father of kafir (infidels)” for misleading Muslims to believe that it is their religious duty to support Bersih 3.0.

Rahim said it was not the first time Nik Aziz had said this to confuse the people.

“Many years ago, he said Umno supporters would go to hell, and if Muslims wanted to go to heaven, they must support Pas.

“He also called Umno kafir because of its association with MCA and MIC. But look at Pas today — it has teamed up with DAP, a political party that rejects an Islamic state,” he told the New Straits Times yes terday.

Rahim said when a respected ulama such as Nik Aziz declared that it was the religious duty of Muslims to support Bersih, people would take it as wajib (compulsory) despite the government’s stand that the gathering had violated the laws of peaceful assembly.

“He may be recognised and respected as an ulama because of his credentials, but he is just another political animal who wants to maintain his power in Kelantan.”

Rahim said young Muslims should investigate who were the real organisers of Bersih 3.0 and not just follow blindly.

“For Muslims who understand this, they see Nik Aziz as a joker, nothing else,” he said, adding that he supported the National Fatwa Council’s call for Muslims who took part in the April 28 rally to repent as their actions were un-Islamic.

The council on Sunday also issued a fatwa that it was haram (forbidden) for Muslims to participate in demonstrations that had the intention of overthrowing a legitimate government and with the propensity of causing havoc.

In an immediate response, Nik Aziz said a demonstration would only become chaotic if the people were not allowed to participate.

He said the council was biased when it issued the fatwa. On his Facebook page, Nik Aziz said it had issued the fatwa with one eye closed.

“What can be more peaceful than a sit-in demonstration?” he asked.

Pas vice-president Datuk Mahfuz Omar said the party would respect the fatwa, but added that most of the participants who were at the rally came with good intentions.

KUALA LUMPUR: Seorang saksi memaklumkan, tindakan penunjuk perasaan terbalikkan kereta peronda polis adalah untuk menyelamatkan orang yang terperangkap di bawah kereta itu selepas dilanggar.

Ia berlaku selepas kereta peronda itu semacam hilang kawalan dan melanggar tiga orang termasuk seorang gadis Cina sehingga gadis malang itu terperosok di bawah kereta itu.

Untuk menyelamatkan orang yang terperangkap di bawah kereta itu, mereka beramai-ramai memterbalikkan kereta peronda polis.

Menurut seorang aktivis dari Terengganu yang menyertai perhimpunan hari ini, kejadian itu berlaku di depan mata beliau berhampiran pasaraya Sogo.

“Ambe (maksudnya saya) petang (tadi) jadi saksi kejadian polis rempuh pendemo. YA! Memang ade provokasi tapi setelah check-check, rupanya yang start lempar botol air mineral kat kereta polis tu adalah Sahabat Bodoh (SB)…!

“Mana tak mengamuk polis tu sampaikan sanggup rempuh dengan laju orang awam di hadapan SOGO.

“Berita yang menyatakan ada meninggal tidak benar sama sekali, tiga yang dilanggar parah, seorang wanita cina terperosok bawah kereta polis, sebab tu orang ramai terbalikkan kereta polis, sebab nak selamatkan wanita tu.

“Polis pun tak dak yang meninggal, walaupun dibelasah dengan agak teruk orang ramai yang tidak puas hati mereka langgar pendemo.

“Persoalannya sekarang kenapa polis tu sanggup rempuh orang ramai dengan laju, sampai retak dinding tangga SOGO tu.

“Suasana pilu, tangisan kedengaran melihat insiden itu.

“Ya, memang ada yang mulakan provokasi, dah kejar orang tu tapi tak sempat sebab dia naik motor lari,” cerita saksi itu dalam facebooknya.

Cerita yang beliau tulis itu amat sepadan sekali dengan video yang disiarkan oleh Malaysiakini di bawah ini.

Ia dapat disahkan apabila seorang wanita yang bersuara nyaring dalam video ini berkata, “Astaghfirullah…angkat-angkat” sementara seorang lagi peserta demonstrasi melihat ke bawah kereta peronda polis itu.

Melalui video yang lain pula, pemandu kereta polis itu adalah seorang yang memakai seluar pendek dan bertopi keledar.

DR MAHATHIR’S LETTER TO YITZHAK RABIN

PRIME MINISTER, MALAYSIA 21 December 1993

His Excellency Mr Yitzhak Rabin Prime Minister of Israel JERUSALEM

I would like to thank you for your letter of 17 October informing me about the Agreement of Principles and Mutual Recognition between Israel and the PLO.

My government supports this positive development and views it as a first step towards the realization of a comprehensive solution to the Middle East problem.

As a demonstration of Malaysia’s support to this development my country was represented at the Donor’s Conference to support The Middle East Peace held in Washington and subsequently pledged a modest financial contribution to the Palestinians to assist in their new tasks. My government has also offered the Palestinians technical assistance under the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme.

Malaysia as a matter of general principle is prepared to develop relations with Israel at the appropriate time. In the meantime, we would like to see tangible progress in the implementation of the peace agreement.

The Middle East problem particularly the Palestinian issue has been a cause of instability to the region and I hope the recent agreement between Israel and PLO would contribute to lasting peace to the area.

I look forward to normal relations with Israel. (this last sentence is hand written)

Your Excellency,

Your letter dated January 23rd only reached me yesterday. I appreciate very much your taking the trouble to inform me on the situation in Palestine and the region.

Unfortunately much of what you have written has been overtaken by events.
Malaysia believes in peace and in settlement of problems between neighbours through negotiations. As a last resort, we turn to third parties.

In disputes over territories between Malaysia and Singapore and Malaysia and Indonesia we have agreed to get the World Court to decide. Dispute between Malaysia and Thailand over territorial waters was resolved by agreeing to share the non-marine resources equally.

Within the country, disparities in wealth distribution between the indigeneous people and those of immigrant origins were resolved through affirmative action in which the have nots would have a bigger share of a growing economic cake but there would be no expropriation and redistribution of what already belonged to the descendants of immigrants.

Everyone has very nearly a fair share now and everyone is fairly satisfied. Relations between the different races in Malaysia are good and not disruptive. The important point I would like to stress is not to take what already belongs to others even though historically they may be yours. Lately, Israel has been pulling down Arab dwellings in order to erect houses for Israelis.

The whole world, including your ally, the United States condemns this. But Israel has gone ahead. You condemn Syria for making threats. But their threats are the response to your own action. If you forcibly take over land and property belonging to the Palestinians, the only response if they are not to violently act against you, is to threaten to act against you.

If they cannot retaliate and they cannot voice their intended retaliation, than they would have to submit to all your action no matter how wrong. What you are doing now is against the spirit and the letter of the peace process agreed to by your predecessor.

How can we trust Israel if a change in the government negates solemnly given undertakings by a Government of Israel. Please reconsider your decision to build new Jewish settlements on Arab land. The Israeli youths are here. Our intention is to show them that Muslims are normal rational people who want to live in peace and freedom. We hope that they will have a new impression of Muslims and Islam. There will be aberrations among Muslims but there are also aberrations among Jews and Christians and people of every religion. No religion should be judged by these aberrations.

We hope that the youths will understand Muslims better and will want to be at peace with them. To have peace you have to make sacrifices. The Palestinians no longer demand the elimination of Israel. They are even prepared to share Jerusalem with you. They have made sacrifices.

We should remember that when Jews were persecuted in Europe, they had always found sanctuary among Muslims in Muslim countries. We don’t regard Israelis as eternal enemies. But we cannot help but sympathise with the Palestinians because their land is being taken away from them now.

It may have belonged to Jews three thousand years ago. A lot of traditional Malay land have been made part of Thailand. But we are not claiming Southern Thailand as part of Malaysia. If we go too far into the past we cannot live with our neighbours.

We are ready to have economic and technological cooperation with Israel but we cannot do so yet because you have not honoured commitments made by a legitimate Government of Israel.

We would like to think that once we have established relations with you, it would be permanent.

His Excellency Mr Ehud Barak Prime Minister Elect of Israel TEL AVIV

Your Excellency,

May I extend my congratulations on your victory in the recent elections. With this impressive mandate, I hope that you and your coalition partners will be able to guide the destiny of the people of Israel at the threshold of a new Century.

I would like to take this opportunity to reiterate that Malaysia has always sought peace and the settlement of problems between neighbours through negotiations. It is therefore our hope to see the mutual implementation of the agreements signed between the PLO and Israel.

We also believe that if the peace process is to be salvaged, sincere and effective steps must be taken to honour commitments.

As an important partner in the peace process it is crucial for Israel to be more accommodating. The Palestinians have made major sacrifices. They no longer demand the elimination of Israel. They are even prepared to share Jerusalem with you. It is therefore timely that Israel respond positively so as to sustain the hopes of the people in both Palestine and Israel.

Solemn commitments made by a previous Goverment must be honoured. The alternative I am afraid, would be a permanent state of conflict and regional instability extending into the next Century. This is certainly a prospect that must be avoided.

The crux of the problem is that no party should revert to the old ways of taking what belongs to others, on the one hand and instigating hatred and violence, on the other. Malaysia cannot countenance aggression by anyone, whether friend or foe. Any country that forcibly takes over land and properties of others, or demolishes dwellings belonging to others in order to set up its own settlements cannot be said to be sincere in wanting peace.

Malaysia is of the firm conviction that the security of all countries in West Asia can only be assured with the establishment of a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace in the region. This must be based on the principle of “exchange of land for peace” and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The world looks forward to Israel under your leadership, to push forward the peace process with true determination. It is my sincere hope that the attainment of a comprehensive settlement in the region would allow Malaysia to realistically envisage a positive move towards the establishment of normal relations with Israel.

Khir Toyo dihukum penjara setahun

SHAH ALAM 23 Dis. – Bekas Menteri Besar Selangor, Dr. Mohamad Khir Toyo dihukum penjara setahun oleh Mahkamah Tinggi di sini hari ini selepas didapati bersalah atas tuduhan mendapatkan untuk beliau dan isterinya dua lot tanah dan sebuah banglo bernilai RM6.5 juta dengan harga RM3.5 juta, empat tahun lalu.

Hakim Datuk Wira Mohtarudin Baki yang memutuskan hukuman itu turut mengarahkan perlucutan hak terhadap hartanah tersebut.

Beliau bagaimanapun membenarkan perlaksanaan hukuman penjara dan pelucutan hak itu ditangguh sehingga rayuan selesai didengar dan diputuskan. – Utusan

Pada 11.12.11 baru2 ini, Dewan Pemuda PAS Pusat telah menyeru seluruh rakyat negara ini mencontohi semangat juang burung-burung yang menentang pencuri dalam permainan Angry Birds.

Dalam satu kenyataan sempena ulangtahun kedua Angry Birds, Ketua Dewan Pemuda PAS Pusat, Nasrudin Hasan menyifatkan Angry Birds sebagai permainan yang mengajar rakyat agar bangkit berjuang menghapuskan kezaliman.

“Slogan ‘Jangan Curi !!’ dalam permainan itu adalah simbol kemarahan rakyat terhadap empat pengkhianatan pemimpin terhadap rakyat di Malaysia.

“Ianya adalah penafian hak rakyat Kelantan terhadap royalti petroleum, penyelewengan Felda dan langkah penyenaraian Felda Global Ventures yang menggadai nasib peneroka, keraguan daftar pemilih oleh SPR sebagaimana didedahkan oleh Pemuda PAS dan kontroversi projek National Feedlot Centre bernilai RM250 juta sebagaimana dilapor Ketua Auditor Negara”, katanya kepada Harakahdaily.
